Bruno Cerabolini

Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences

Full Professor of Environmental Botany at the University of Insubria. Graduate in Natural Sciences, he cooperated with the Natural History Museum of Milan and worked as a professional in the evaluation and management of plant biodiversity for companies and protected areas. Later, with a CNR scholarship, he went to UCPE (Sheffield University – GB) where learned methods and techniques concerning functional types of plants, a research activity he has also continued back in Italy and which is documented by numerous articles, also on prestigious international journals (e.g. Nature and PNAS). His applicative research focused on the management of spontaneous flora and vegetation, led him to be among the founders of the Native Flora Center, for the use of native plants and cultivation of threatened species, and to collaborate with the Biodiversity Observatory of Lombardy, as supervisor of Natura 2000 Habitats, often leading him to deal with the sustainable management of meadows and pastures.
