Patrizia Contursi

Department of Biology

Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University Federico II of Napoli (Italy) since 2020. Visiting Researcher at Copenhagen University (DK), in 2002 he received a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Naples, and she was Researcher at the Department of Structural Biology, University Federico II of Naples from 2002 to 2020.
Her prevailing interests are focused on:
1) Setting up of genetic systems for thermophilic Archaea and Bacteria microorganisms
2) Gene mutagenesis and functional characterization of thermostable transcription factors/enzymes/peptides (such as carbohydrate active enzymes for producing biofuel precursors from lignocellulosic biomasses)
3) Study of the structure-function relationship of thermophilic
proteins/enzymes
4) Study of the interaction between host and virus in Archaea at both physiological and molecular levels
5) Metagenomics of microbial and viral life in terrestrial geothermal environments
