Associate Professor of Microbiology at the Department of Life Sciences where she currently teaches ‘Biologia dei Microrganismi’ and ‘Microbial biodiversity’, and she is Referent for quality in didactics. She obtained a M.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Siena and a PhD in Microbiological Sciences at the University of Genoa. The primary research interests are bacterial adaptation and competition, and insects-bacterial symbioses. Ad hoc reviewer for peer reviewed journals and national and international research projects. Member of the American Society for Microbiology (1986-present). Coordinator of local and national research projects (MIUR PRIN 2004, 2008). Reseach associate, Dept. of Microbiology & Immunology, Temple University, Philadelphia-US (1985-1988, 1989); Visiting scientist (funding from National Research Council, Italy), Dept. of Molecular Microbiology, JIC, Norwich-GB (1997,1998,1999).
