Vincenzo Pavone is Full Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Naples Federico II (Italy) since 1994. In 1976 he received the M.S. in Chemistry at the University of Naples, then he was research associate in 1980 and associate professor in 1987 at the same University. He was visiting fellow at the National Institute of Health (Bethesda, USA) (1978-1980) and at the Institute of Life Science (Tokyo, Japan) (1987), and visiting professor at the National Institute of Bioscience and Human Technology (Tsukuba, Japan) (1997). He is currently Dean of the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Naples. His research interests include the design, synthesis and evaluation of the functional properties of artificial metalloenzymes for applications in catalysis and sensing, as well as the identification of synthetic peptides as highly effective drug candidates with anti-angiogenic properties, for applications as anti-inflammatory and antitumor agents.
