Researcher and teacher at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Siena, Italy. My interest is focused on macrofungi present in various Mediterranean ecosystems, studying their communities and their ecology; mapping their distribution and monitoring possible changings also in respect to mycoselviculture. I’m active in fungal conservation collaborating with the Global Fungal Red List initiative of IUCN and Important plant areas of the Planta Europa Network. Temporary professor in systematic of lower plants, Mycology, Museology of Natural Sciences. Scientific coordinator or collaborator of some research projects; invited speaker at various international congresses and reviewer of numerous manuscripts; about 200 publications, national and international, co-author of some books. I was presented with the Planta Europa’s Silver Leaf Award (2014) and my outstanding work in fungal conservation was recognized at EMA (2019).
