Simone Tosi

Assistant Professor at the University of Turin (Italy) and Special Member of the Graduate Faculty at the University of Maryland (USA). He developed his research at the University of Bologna (Italy, where he obtained his PhD degree), at the University of Pretoria (South Africa), at the University of California San Diego (USA), and at the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES). Simone uses bees as model species for investigating the mechanisms governing animal behaviour and environmental health. Researches how natural and anthropogenic factors influence social and solitary bees alone and in combination through lethal and sublethal effects. He studies risk assessments to assist human societies protect bees and the environment. Awarded various prizes for his research, Simone also serves as external expert member of European agencies (i.e., European Food Safety Authority – EFSA, EIP-AGRI).
