Department of Biology

Professor of Physiology at the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), in 1996 she received a PhD in Physiology at the University of Pavia, and she was a researcher at the Department of Biology, University Federico II from 1999 to 2015. The study of the role played by free radicals in tissues functional dysfunction or adaptations to physio-pathological conditions in which oxidative stress develops is at the core of her research interests. She paid attention to the study of the ROS sensitive factors involved in the control of mitochondrial biogenesis, metabolic adaptation and characteristics of the antioxidant defense system. Among the conditions, she studies there are: the alteration of thyroid state, the physical activity, cold exposure, ischemia-reperfusion, and exposure to environmental pollutant or xenobiotics.
